The Super Bowl Futures You Should Be Looking At

The NFL regular season has now officially passed its halfway point, and there is still not a clear favorite to bring home the Lombardi trophy in sight or in the sportbooks. Though Vegas is giving Buffalo a slight edge at the moment, I wouldn't touch this team with a five dollar free bet right now. Here's why.

Buffalo has not beaten any "good" team besides the Chiefs, which was during their surprising slide in form earlier in the year. Their other wins came from beating the Dolphins twice, Washington, the Texans, and the Jets. Not exactly noteworthy wins on the resume. And with their two losses coming at the hands of the Steelers and Jaguars, I see much better bets at three different price points until Buffalo proves themselves more.

The Safe Bet: Bucs (+650)

Currently sitting at 6-3 after a surprising 29-19 loss in Washington I expect the Bucs to get back into their Super Bowl form against the Giants on Monday night and continue on to the playoffs with ease. I think the Bucs will use last weeks loss as a wakeup call to get their focus back and eliminate the, as Head Coach Bruce Arian's put it, "stupidity (that) has to go away".

And with their only real test the rest of the way looking like their December 12th matchup with Buffalo, they are likely to secure a top spot in the NFC.

Because let's be real; it's tough to bet against Brady. And if he gets some, if not all, his weapons back? Watch out.

The 'Some Skin' Play: Chiefs(+1100)

First and foremost, can you imagine getting the Chiefs at +1100 odds preseason? Damn, what a crazy NFL season it's been so far. Ok, moving on.

We all know the Chiefs don't look like the Chiefs we'd come to know from the past couple seasons, but honestly I think that's ok.

The Chiefs were notorious for coming back against teams every week in order to get their wins. Everyone knew that wasn't a formula for longterm success but somehow the Chiefs really did manage to do it time after time after time. This years Chiefs team? Much more vanilla.

Grinding out tough wins against the Giants, Washington, Packers (granted, without Aaron Rodgers), and the Ravens and Eagles at the beginning of the year plus an impressive showing against the Raiders last weekend. The Chiefs seem to be growing into a team that will just win however they can. And that's a great recipe for success come playoff time.

+1100 is a healthy payout for the two time defending AFC Champions that still has, in case you forgot, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and Andy Reid calling the shots.

The Not So Long Shot?: Patriots (+2500)

As annoying as it is for anyone associated with football outside of New England, the Patriots are back as a team to fear in the AFC. A conference that no one seems to want to take the lead in. New England is currently in a 4 way tie for total wins in the AFC behind only Tennessee who holds 8.

Mac Jones seems to be another solid Patriots quarterback who won't lose you any games and can also do enough to keep defenses from crowding the line of scrimmage to allow the running game to thrive.

+2500 seems like a fun play for a competent Patriots team coached by Bill Belichick in a wide open AFC.
